Stump Shooter

Anyone shoot these? Has anyone ever tried them out? What do you think?

I'm currently shooting Rocket Sidewinders, but I'm having a wild hair on trying something else out this year.

Thanks,
Xtec

My neighbor shoots them. He shot a big buck last year and they worked fine. I think they look wicked and I bet fly great. Ill stickwith my muzzys though.

Lot of users on here. Me being one of them. Make sure if you buy some on-line they are the "new" style. Some of the first ones introduced were notorious for whistling in flight. I love em.

i haven't shot them, but i've read alot of comments from people who have, and haven't heard of any complaints

Hey Rudd,

I'll be driving past Cabelas on my way down to Iowa for a scouting weekend and was thinking about picking them up there. How would I know if they are the "new" ones or not?

I've shot a buck with them the last 2 years, great blood trails, both deer ran a combined distance of 50yards. I bought the Montec sharping stone also.

The bad thing that I have had with them is both heads I shot the deer with now have a bent tip and one has a bent blade. I am planning on returning them to cabelas and see if I can exchange them for new ones.

any of the ones at Cabelas would be new. I was just saying if you bought off ebay or archerytalk ask the question. The old style heads were close to 2 years ago so there should be no worries.

Waukon,

Why would you return those to Cabela's when after you've shot deer with them, they are now bent? Do they have some "no damage" ever clause with them?

Waukon - that happened to mine, I just re sharpened them and they look new! They are a tough azz broadhead. Flies pretty awesome too!

My Muzzy's have been zinging bullet holes for me but I am still tempted to try some of these G5's. For some reason I just have a thing for broadheads I guess. I have only used Muzzy's for one season, shot a buck and a doe, pass-thru's on both and neither made it 50 yards. So, no complaints there except that both times the blades were in horrible shape afterwords, very bent up, etc. I chuck them after each deer anyway but I didnt care for that part. Is that common with Muzzy's and how hard are the G5's to sharpen. Looks like any flat stone would work ok? It would be nice not to have to buy any more blades.

Xtec shooter, Cabelas will take them back, at least I hope in exchange for new ones. They are bent, and I would expect more out of the head than "shooting one deer and then the head being un-useable.

Supertec, I tried to resharpen mine but one head has such a bent tip, I would greatly deform the head to get it to look like it is supposed to. Plus, it might take me all season to file it down

The buck I shot last fall, went in the left lung, shot upwards into the spine and back down out the right lung. It took a 4 inch chunck of spine out, bent the tip a little bit. I put it on the stone and looks like new! Let me know if they take them back. I have about 5 dozen arrows in my garage that are bent and I would like to get them replaced.

I tell you I put myself in a bind. I was settled on using NAP Crossfires(fixed) or Spitfires(mech), and happen to have a few G5 Montecs laying around. I had to put them on to see if they flew any different than a couple months ago. Well, with a little nock adjustment I have these things flying like field points, and definitely better than the Crossfires. I had to do this to myself a month before season.
