Early season...evenings. During the rut, any time of day, but if forced to choose I'd pick a morning every time. Due to the combination of the rut and the full moon, I plan to try some mid-day stuff during the next 3 days. Good luck!
Both P&Y deer I've shot have been in the AM before 0730. They both were rattled in and shot around the 8th of November. If I still had a tag I'd be out all day from tomorrow on. I took a 11pt last week.
I like cold cold mornings always seem to see the big big ones then!! but thats only if i had to pick one or the other, would be all day for me starting this weeekend!!!
I ditto NWBuck's and Nug's answer. I see most my bucks in the evenings during early season, then mornings when the rut starts up. However, during peak rut try get out whenever you can.
I like the all day approach if possible. If I had to choose, I would do the mornings if I was hunting the right farm....(able to access w/o being noticed much)
This time of year...........grab your most comfortable stand and a sack lunch. Go early - then stay late. Most of my November rut bucks have come between 9:30 am and 11:30 am. I've spooked some pretty nice bucks at 12 o'clock noon going to get a bite to eat!
I used to believe that mornings wee the best, but then on Saturday I was moving a stand at 1:30 when a 140" 8 pt. ran by me at 5 yards running a hot doe. Neither one knew I was there and I was stuck holding on to the tree.
I hunted the tree that night and saw 5 different bucks, but no shooters. It looks to be a great spot
I'll be sitting all day if my rear end can handle it
