Moultree cam housing problem

Question for you Moultree users. I have an I-40 with a broken strap bracket on the back. I still have the holes for a security cable in the back. I'm going to call Moutree after Christmas and see what they can do, in the meantime, any ideas for securing it to the tree? I'm planning on holding it in place with a bungee while I tie it on, going through the cable lock holes, with nylon rope. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I broke mine too. I took the camera apart and screwed metal brackets to the sides. Caulked it up and it works great. I actually like having the strap higher up too.

How big are the cable lock holes? Perhaps a smaller diameter Python cable would fit? They cinch everything up real nice and are all I use for homebrews.

iowabowtech, you can kind of get an idea of the size of the holes from jjohnson's pic, unfortunately, they don't look too strong either. jjohnson, that looks like a good fix, I was considering doing something similar. Question for you, how much space is there where you put those brackets, if I were to use some small to mount the brackets how short would they have to be?

It's pretty simple to do. Pull a few screws and the whole works comes out. My brother did this for me but I had one apart for ants this summer and from what I recall basically it's all open once you get the board out. There should be plenty of room to rig something up.

If they're about the size of the slots in jj's pic, the Python idea is out, it'll be too big to fit through. However, if you were going to rig up brackets like his (looks nice BTW), you could punch larger acceptance holes so you could use one. Then you have some security for the cam as well as a strong anchor to any sized tree.
