Mountain Lion Video

Excellent post, Shovel. I never get tired of seeing those beautiful creatures. The first one I encountered at less than 30 feet scared the snot out of me at the time, but I know how significant that encounter was today...and the other 2 I've crossed paths with since (not counting fresh tracks, scrapes, and kills). Although I would argue that its not a case of them moving from the western mountains into NE for the first time, as he suggests; but rather that they are moving BACK into their historic range.

That video isnt going to help the fact that I get the heebie jeebies once in a while walking to my stand before it gets light out. Ive never laid eyes on one, but I still think about it.
Really cool video. Makes the hair on your neck stand up when the cat spots the filmer. Were spoiled here in the (general)midwest being on top of the food chain-until one of these shows up.
Thanks for sharing

If it's any consolation Scooter, I live in mountain lion country, have had one close-range encounter (less than 30 feet), seen two others and have come across very fresh sign and I get a small case (sometimes big case) of the heebie jeebies EVERY time I'm in the mountains before and after it gets light. Here's a trick to help you out: My last "encounter" (VERY fresh, active scrapes) was a "bottom-of-the-food-chain" thought/moment until I realized I could get inside his brain forever. I stood there and peed in his scrape to let him know I was marking MY territory over his. He could have attacked and eaten me at any time in that particular canyon (several "encounters" with fresh scrapes in 1 area) and I accepted that, but I made sure I got inside his brain for the rest of the summer by showing him just who had the more highly evolved brain! :way:
