Are mountain lions still an unregulated and unprotected species in Iowa?

Another species detected in Iowa. My neighbor and several others claim to have seen one or two strange animals. They checked the internet and claim it bares a striking resemblance to a "Bearcat". Kind of a coon cat type animal. They told the DNR, which did not seem interested. It says they like garden produce and fruit. If I see one it's dead! Could be some sort of South American pet that someone let go??

I second that- I saw one two years ago late season muzzy season and never had a shot present itself- but if I see him again- "he gone!"
