Not sure if I figured it, go through the set up, do the laser aim thing. Put it on auto, turn it on and walk away????

I feel your confusion. I spend Saturday trying to figure my D40 out. The instructions were not very clear. I got it Friday and it was defective. The flash would not fire under any scenario. It did take pics in daylight with flash mode off. That really made it confusing. The pics it took in daylight were ok but without a flash it was not much use.

I found that in handheld the rdy code has to stop flashing to take a pic. That may be useful if you need to test it. The event display can give feedback too.

This is a really a bait camera because of the long wake up time. I don't bait so the only way I see it working for me is over a scrape. With falling temps it is likely to work poorly and the manual says it is not reliable around freezing. I have read it sucks batteries too. Also there have been complaints of time stamp drift. Mine was driftig within an hour or less. They must have very poor clocks in them.

The box from Cabela's had no extra packing and it was crushed in the corner.

I called Moultrie and they had no fix except replace it. Cabela's to their credit sent another today before receiving the bad one back.

A friend has the Cabela's 5.0 camera which is basically the same camera. He is happy with it. He is taking it to Dorintosh in a couple of weeks to help in his hunt there. He was there last year, as well. He has family there and is in a sweet spot. How does it look up there this year for the deer hunting?
