Hoping to get some insight on peoples thoughts about where I should begin my journey of finding public land. I live in the QCA and would like to hunt within an hour or so. If anyone has any experience with eastern iowa (I'm not asking to give me your hotspots) just asking in general which country possesses better odds in harvesting a mature whitetail.

Good luck but I'm guessing that crickets will show up. At least you have resident behind your name. I'd call the DNR office and ask for advice. It just a matter of finding the right one and they will help a ton.

I say GO BIG & go 2 miles in. Any combo if you can find that, bet you're doing as good as possible on average.
