Mushroom poachers!

Do you guys have these just as bad or worse as shed poachers? They are worse where I hunt in Louisa County. The farmer caught 5 people on his ground Friday-Sunday. They ruined 3 turkey hunts this weekend for us. When confronted the people didn't even care. I need to take karate lessons before next turkey season because yelling at them does no good. Next year no warning, just a roundhouse kick to the face.

You should have to buy a license to mushroon hunt, just like Ginseng. And if you don't have a license or are caught tresspassing you should get 1 finger cut off for each offense.

Half of this trespassing stuff is ENTITLEMENT issues. SOME folks feel ENTITLED to go where ever they want. You buy the ground because you worked hard and were smart & want to shed or mushroom hunt- too bad, others are ENTITLED to it.

Mushroom hunters are HORRIBLE. I don't know how many I saw last weekend wearing street clothes with grocery bags sticking out of their pockets.

seriously?! you want more taxed licenses to pick something up off the ground on your own land? I'd like to see how many people actually would buy the license..

A flying donkey punch to the throat always works for me! :way::D:way::D I agree, it sucks. I always hand out a few nice a$$ chewings every spring on my place. It really gets old.

Probably have 10 different ones on trail cams this spring so far. In addition I have a minimum of 5 dogs running with these people, gotta love it.

The pos mushroom poachers have ruined turkey hunting so far on our land. Since they have been popping I have caught people shrooming on mon, wed, and Friday and haven't seen a turkey on ours since. They aren't even roosting there anymore. The last group I caught were there at 6:30 at night so turkeys were no way in hades going to be roosting there. I now see the turks on a property adjacent to mine that the landowner lives on so that keeps the endless shroom poachers from shasing them off of there. At least they have a bit of a sanctuary.

The problem with mine when I caught them is that my renter had given them permission 2 years ago to hunt on some of the land they own and they just took that as having permission on anything he farms. I had the co on the phone as I was talking to the one kid so all is documented if I see him again. The other groups are shirt tail cousins so I didn't want stir issues at this time. It will be spelled out specifically in black and white on next years lease agreement that anyone who doesn't have written permission from me to be on my land will be prosecuted for tresspassing. These were the first to get off(5 others weren't so lucky-deer and turk season) but with a calm promise of the next time they are on they they will be prosecuted

I have 4 trail cams sitting tall in a tree to catch them or anyone else now.

The previous years we knew we had people in there but could never catch them. I wonder how many more I am missing because my wife and I went hunting there sunday and saw where a four wheeler had snuck in from the back side and a truck had driven in from that way as well. If anyone does does drive that again this year they will perhaps be checking out new goodyears:D

I agree, mushroom hunting is the worst by far. The good thing is they aren't that bright. When I run into them on public I tell them of the hundreds of shrooms I have seeing while turkey hunting on the other end of the block.

the private ground i hunt I have permission from the landowner to prosecute at my descresion, and ive called the sheriff and talked to them and was told to just call and they would send someone out, there tired of it to and told me something has to be done about it, so this year if we see anyone on this ground there getting fined for trespassing.

My neighbor has no-trespassing signs up every 10feet and this guy is still brave enough to step across the fence. This was from 2009. My neighbor had to run to town for a little while and when he got back this guy was on his camera. He took off on the 4-wheeler right away but the guy was allready gone.

The problem is that it's only a $60 fine for simple tresspassing. Most tresspassers believe they won't get caught, and will probably only get scolded if they do. The very worst is a small fine. I don't think you can humiliate most of these low-lifes.

Shroom poachers are the absolute worst. We get a lot of people from surrounding towns on our property because of its proximity to public trails, each and ever one of them says "I didnt know this was private land". The best time someone used that excuse was when they were 1 foot on either side of my fence, within eye shot of our house, 10 feet from a no tresspassing sign. I thought my dog was going to massacre this guy...
