Arrow Chucker
Up at 4:30, and out the door at 5:00. My dad and I took work off to head out to the turkey woods. Dad and I have not always had the best luck turkey hunting together, and it only got worse when I started bow hunting a few years back. So, when all of the birds in the area flew down and went the other way, I was not at all surprised. Gobbling stopped about 0700, and by about 0800, I was doing the old "Here We Go Again" thing. Just then, a gobby walked by the tent close enough for me to reach out and choke. We were set up in a low spot, and he had come in quiet with two hens in tow. I reached for my bow just as he jumped up and kicked our Pretty Boy right in the face. Just as he went back into full strut and faced away, I drew my bow. He was turning around to make another pass at our PB and I let it go. The arrow found its mark right at the wing joint, and he didn't even make it 5 yards before he expired. A day in the woods with dad...filling the tag is bonus.
This pic from the blind made it look like a knock down drag out :D
