Muzzleloader Scopes

I'm sure this has been hashed out before but I searched and could not find anything.

I'm going to be buying a T/C Omega in the next couple weeks and was wondering what everyone is using for scopes. Was thinking about going with the Nikon BDC but I'm not sold on the concept. I do like the 5" eye relief of the Nikon. Also looking at the Nikon Prostaff and a few Leupolds.

Just thought I'd get everyone else's opinions. Most of you have been muzzleloading a lot longer than me. Thanks

ditto for me

lots of great options out there!! the best advice i can give is buy the best you can afford!!!

I can't say anything bad about Nikon it's just that I am a Leupold fan and have a VX-II 3x9 on top of my Knight .50 cal. I absolutley love it. Nikon or Leupold are both great optics.

Gonna have to go with Jethro, I am a Leupold man. On my Omega, I have a 2x7x32 VX-3, and I love that scope for a muzzleloader. I will agree Nikon makes pretty good scopes as well.

A friend who sells them says the Nikon Prostaff is the best buy for the money. If $$$$ is not a problem then all of the above are excellent.

I have a Nikon Monarch 2X7 on my muzzleloader. I'm real happy with it.

On a MZ forum I follow, the Sightron scopes (SII and SIII) are getting great reviews.

I put a Burris Fullfield II with the ballistic plex crossharis on my Knight a few years ago, thus far it has performed flawlessly. As others stated, I have nothing against the Nikons or Leupolds.

Burris Fullfield II

Burris Fullfield II </div></div>

Put the same scope on my Encore this year. It was a huge improvement over my 6 yr old Bushnell. As said before, buy the best that you can afford and do the research. The old saying of "you get what you pay for" is very true with optics. Have fun...

Yup, me to. "Thumbs up gremlin"

I have the Burris fullfield II also. I like mine alot also.

I think there are better out there, but it would not be worth the extra $$$ to get it.

The Omega scope.

I have 5 friends all of them have the Omega for there Thompson Encores. Everyone said the scope is dead on if you use the correct powder and bullet.

Personall I would go with the Nikon BDC. And figure out the rest as far as correct bullet and powder.

my brother-in-law bought the bdc and is not happy with it. had problems with it fogging up,and would not focus very well. could just be a lemon. I beleive he is going to send it in.

Stick with your thoughts. I just bought a new Nikon 3X9X40 with the BDC retical. I have only used it at the range so far but I believe it will be a winner. I also put a 4X16X40 BDC on my new 270 barrel for the Encore. I did have a Nikon Monarch on the M/L but liked the BDC concept and switched. Ebay has been very very god to me! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

With that BDC reticle, does a person have to use the 150 grains/250 grain bullet? Have any of you Nikon Omega scope owners used any other combo with the scope and gotten good results? I was thinking of using about 100 grains with a 200 grain Shockwave...

Just this year I purchased the Nikon BDC for my Knight Disc Extreme. I am using 150 grains of Triple 7, 250 gr. T/C Shockwave projectile, and of course the 209 primer.

I am very pleased with this scope, it does exactly what Nikon says it will do. Amazing groups at 200-250 yards. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
