Muzzleloader/Shotgun 1 and 2 law change?

Hello, I'm new to this forum, and i'm not sure if this is the correct location for this thread either... anyways.

I was talking to my friend and he read that this year people that purchased an early Muzzleloader tag and filled it, couldn't hunt in gun 1 or 2 in Iowa. Is there any truth to this? I have up until I turned 16 this year always done youth season and then Gun 1 and now it seems like i can't do this? Or am I completely wrong? Feedback is appreciated.

Yes if you buy an early muzzleloader tag here in Iowa you wont be able to purchase a tag for shotgun 1 or 2 this year. I have hunted early muzzleloader for 19 years and it made for a hard decision on my part but I chose to go bow, shotgun2 and late muzzleloader this year.

Like i said i didn't even know about it until my friend said something last friday... its kinda dumb IMO. Can you get multiple antler-less/doe tags during the early muzz?

I already feel sorry for the clerks at thiesens or wherever that don't know about the new law either. Someone trying to get the tags they always do won't be able to and the clerks are gonna be going "I don't know why, it just won't let me!"

The first thing I do every year before season is get the new copy of the hunting and trapping regulations at Walmart and look on the page with the table of contents. The DNR post the chages to the regulation at the bottom of this page. It's pretty easy to keep up on things just by getting into this habit.

Ya, not knowing the hunting regulations before you make your tag decisions is just plain stupid anymore. They are changing so often, you are doing yourself a dis-service not keeping up on them.

Plus, once you sign your hunting license, aren't you legally acknowleding that you have read and understand the hunting regulations for that year??? The regulations are readily available to read. I'll never fully trust what somebody else tells me is legal or not without looking at them myself.

Even on this site, when somebody asks about regulations, you will get different answers. If something in gray to you after you have read the regs yourself, check with your CO...

I believe this is the way it use to be before the dnr tried to take a few does out. Now the numbers are more balanced they changed it back to the way it use to be. I am not 100% but I think you can get as many antlerless tags as you want as long as your county has not filled there quota. I think they might limit you until a certain date.

Wait....you can hunt gun#2 and late muzzy?

I get an antlerless tag for gun 1 and an anysex for late muzzy. I think there are a lot of people that do it this way.

I know that's how a lot of people see it. I couldn't tell you the last time I shot a buck with my shotgun. I go along with the group because it's a good time. I go after bucks with the bow and muzzy.
