Well since I enjoy seeing pics on here, I figured I'd post a pictoral of my season. It was my best season to date. It started off slow with very few pics of shooter bucks, but it all came together as it went along. I have harvested deer bigger than both of the two I got this year, but these two were very memorable. I got an early season muzzleloader tag and was able to harvest a nice deer off of public land with a buddy along. I also ended an 11 year buck drought with my bow. I started bowhunting when I was 11, but said I wouldn't shoot a deer unless it was mature or was going on the wall. I have passed up deer that would outscore the deer I took, but he was mature and I had pics of him. I also had time to do a little trapping and pheasant hunting. The feeling of tagging out is a weird one that I had never felt before, so all the extra time I had felt different. Well heres a few trail cam and harvest pics from the year.
I wouldn't have shot either one of them, but they have potential in a year or two.
These deer got my blood boiling and I would have gladly harvested any of them.
This was a deer I had my eye on. He was a mature deer and was run down from the rut. I decided to help dad cut firewood instead of sit in my stand. Stand is 25 yards away and he was there. I almost cried that afternoon when I pulled my cards.
That is my early season muzzy deer. He was feeding in a cornfield one rainy morning when I slipped up over the hill. He stood there long enough for me to steady the crosshairs and he never took another step.
This was my bow deer. Same deer that was within range when I was cutting wood. Shot over a mile from there. He was with a ten point that would have outscored him, but is a 2.5 year old we have pictures of. It's great when it all comes together and yields time to do other activities.
Me and my younger brother had a few good days on pheasants. Had a lot of fun. It was a great year. Enjoy and sorry bout so many pics
