"Iowa To Issue Record Number Of Antlerless Deer Tags
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recently announced it will issue an additional 30,150 antlerless deer licenses for this fall's hunting season.
Iowa DNR officials say aerial surveys, data from the last hunting season and road kill counts all indicate a statewide deer herd that is 15 percent larger than desirable; despite the fact that hunters killed about 136,000 deer last fall.
The license increase, which the Iowa Natural Resources Commission approved last Thursday, will make available the highest number of antlerless licenses ever, and more than double last season."
This was forwarded to me from another member and I thought it was interesting news. It came from North American Hunting Club Weekly News dated 6-26-03. I also have heard rumblings of xtra antlerless tags available for the early MZ season. Is there any truth to that Blind Sow? I've checked the DNR site but it hasn't been updated since June. That fact may help sway me back to the early season.
