Archery hunting is prohibited in firearm antelope units during the firearm antelope season, which is Oct. 10-25.

An unlimited number of the statewide archery permits are available, but each hunter may purchase only one permit a piece.

Permission is required to hunt on private land, but most landowners are willing to grant access to antelope hunters.

Oglala National Grassland is the best public land for antelope hunting according to Kit Hams, big game program manager for the Commission.

Permits may be purchased at OutdoorNebraska.org or commission offices in Lincoln, Omaha, Norfolk, Kearney, Bassett, North Platte and Alliance, as well as Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium, Chadron, Ponca, Niobrara and Fort Robinson state parks, Lake McConaughy and Wildcat Hills state recreation areas.

Hunters harvested 107 antelope during the archery season in 2008, with a success rate of 18 percent.
