NE trip

Well my trip was pretty much a bust. I only got in two days of hunting before the snow rolled in. I was planning on being out there until Thursday but with 7+" forcasted I decieded to bug out.


You can't score every time.

I did have a neet encounter with this guy.

Whenever you take a trip on a planned date you're at the mercy of mother nature...chit happens. Looks like I'd have been ready for self defense with that guy

Bummer. But, like they say, worst day of hunting better than best day of work. Cool 'pine pics. Never saw one in person yet, but scheduled to go to NE in 4 weeks. Maybe see one then. Anyone ever seen one in IA?

That is a neat looking porcupine...I've never seen one that color. I used to run into them all the time in AK...fun to watch them waddle away with that pin cushion on their back.

My old yellow lab was about 2 feet away from filling his nose full of quills one afternoon when we were out shed hunting....thank god I saw what he was sniffing at and yelled as loud as I could which made him about do a 180 in mid air.

That was the first one this Iowa boy has ever seen. He had no fear of me and waddled around for quite some time.

Nothing like putting the smack down on a porcupine at 100 yards with a V-Max .223 or .22-250.
