Nebraska Choice Deer Permits Still Available


LINCOLN, Neb. - Thousands of Season Choice Area hunting permits still are available, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The permits allow for harvesting antlerless deer only.

With the permit, hunters may use archery equipment through Jan. 18, 2011, muzzleloaders Dec. 1-31 and firearms Dec. 26-Jan. 18.

The remaining permits, as of Nov. 30, are: SCA 1, 1,304; SCA 2, 936; SCA 3, 223; SCA 4, 193; SCA 5, 26; SCA 6, 139; SCA 8, 351; SCA 9, 486; SCA 9 North, 201; SCA 11, 140; SCA 12, 256; SCA 17 White River, 332; SCA 18, 829; SCA 19, 203; SCA 20, 928; SCA 21, 4,424; SCA 22, 387; SCA 24 River, 229; and SCA 25 North, 73.

Statewide muzzleloader deer season opens Dec. 1 and runs through the end of the month. Statewide archery season also runs through the end of the month.

I hunted Nebraska for the first time last year, leaving again next week for a hunt with my dad. This is a private land hunt with a rancher for mulies but I plan on looking at some public areas while I'm there for next year. Nebraska has some high quality deer and you can't beat the price of NR tags.
