NE Fall Turkey Hunting Permits Available

Hunters may purchase their fall turkey permits now through the end of the year, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The fall season is Sept. 15-Dec. 31.

A fall turkey permit allows a hunter to shoot a gobbler with either a shotgun or archery equipment, including a crossbow. The bag limit is two turkeys of either sex, and each hunter may have up to two permits. A permit is valid statewide and allows the take of turkeys from 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset.

Turkey permits costs $24 for residents, $91 for nonresidents and $6 for resident or nonresident youth age 15 and younger. There is no minimum age requirement for youth.

Those hunting turkeys during the November firearm deer season must wear at least 400 square inches of hunter orange on their head, chest and back.
