I'm looking for some advice from some of you. I have yet to fill my buck tag. It has been just one of those years where the shooters never give you a shot. I am in Missouri visiting the in-laws for thanksgiving until sat. I will be in the tree stand on sunday and need some advice on what to do this time of year. Do I rattle, doe bleat, grunt, use scents, doe decoys, or start one end of the timber on fire and wait at the other end. I will be in the tree as much as I can next week also making one last push to get done. Any advice would be great.

Take this as coming from another guy who hasn't filled his tag yet (in other words, it may not be worth much

). But I don't think there is any substitute for putting in time at funnels and pinch points. Bucks are still looking for does and will be traveling. Put yourself close to travel pathways and be patient. Rattling may not hurt, but it hasn't done much for me so I don't rely on it. Location, location, location.

I still have a tag but I've been kinda picky. I'm carrying rattling antlers and a popular grunt/roar tube. I had two young bucks come running to rattling last Sunday, didn't have time to pick my bow up (and wouldn't have shot either of them anyway). I had one buck come in to the grunt tube a week ago. I've been hunting travel corridors/pinches/funnels next to doe bedding areas (thickets). I'm seeing bucks, if only the big boys would pose for their "picture".

I say hunt the does and the bucks will be close behind.

Ditto on the tag. Couldn't hunt today, have to work tommorrow and 90% chance to work Saturday. I've still been seeing some chasing and alot of movement between 10 and 2. Seen a dandy yesterday while spreading lime at 1100.

The big boys are looking for that last doe to breed and I would hunt funnels and aggressively rattle. I have rattled a lot of bucks in on thanksgiving morning in years' past. This was the 1st year in at least 15 that I did not go this am. I have filled my buck tag but I still have doe tags but had too much to do today for our thanksgiving dinner.

I was sitting dowin wind of food source last night on a funnel. I spotted a good bodied wide racked buck in the food source but couldn't get a clear view. I hit the horns and he came in on a string trying to get down wind of me. He ended up being a good 4 1/2 year old. Nice buck just not what I'm after. So like stated earlier funnels near food sources, and antlers would be my choice.
