I am building a video trail camera and am all set except for the illuminator. I know I need one that operates in the 850nm range. I have my handycam hacked and just need the light source. Here is the problem, I do not want to build the IR array myself because I will screw it up. So I am buying one. I need some input on where to go. I cheked out whitetail supply and was not real happy with what they had. I found these on ebay hong kong lights and they are pretty much exactly what I need, except I pay more for shipping than they cost and I have to send my money to Hong Kong, which I don't feel real good about. Will this one work? texas lights I would sure feel better with dealing with someone in the states. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

I have the Hong Kong IR array on my video setup and love it. It is alot cheaper than most arrays with that many leds. I didn't get it from that seller, but their feedback looks pretty good. I made a mistake and sent a cashiers check and it wouldn't work out with their currency, then i used my credit card through paypal it went through perfectly. The more leds, the better. It doesn't even run hot, and there is also a hack out there to make it run brighter yet.

Vman, I am using a sony handycam 8mm CCD-TRV517. I already have jammed the nightshot switch and adjusted the exposure so that it takes good daytime video and also will still see infrared. I tested it with a t.v. remote and it works great. I did order the light from supercircuits. It arrived and I made the power supply for it and hooked it up directly to a 12v battery, nothing. Tried several ways to get it to power up and still nothing. Measured continuity from the center post on the terminal to the collar, zippo. So there is something not soldered together inside. I got no continuity and zero resistance. So I am in the process of trying to get it replaced. Let me know if you have any suggestions because this is my first video unit and I want it to work right.
