Nesting Hens

I know it varies but shouldn't the hens be on their nests for 24 hours a day?
Reason I am asking is that last weekend I still had five hens around the ole boy at 11:00. Usually the afternoon hunts get better as the season wears on because of the nesting hens. He right now does not have any reason to come to a call. Any insight on why these old gals were still around??

Lesbians.

I think I might have an old bull dike hen in my neck of the woods also. Just this morning she came into my decoys and started to strut, last sunday she ran off a strutting gobbler before he got into range. I need to start carrying a slingshot or something

Now to be serious should you or what do you guys do when a hen comes in alone.
Do you chase her off or do you use her as a decoy?

Let her hang around as a live decoy.

risto maybe you missed the part about how she RAN OFF a gobbler coming into my set up before he got into range, literaly ran at him wings flapping kamikaze style and cutting like crazy. Yes most of the time when a hen comes into my set up I pray that she sticks around and doesnt go running to the gobbler and cut him off but in this case this hen is the damn devil. More times than not though when I have a hen come in they normally stick around until the gobbler starts going nuts then they run straight to him and screw me anyways, although I have had a couple of hens drag a tom to his death it normally works the other way for me
