My dad lives in East Tennessee and is 74 years old. Last year he drew a turkey tag for Iowa but 4 weeks before the season began he had to have a knee replacement. He still thought he could come up and hunt but there was no way. During his slow recovery he started getting down and was saying he was too old, that he could'nt get around anymore. After some poking and proding he started taking walks and and went on a diet. He was doing all this so he could be able to walk to the blind and hunt. Well he lost 26 lbs. and drew a tag for 1st season. Monday morning we walked to the blind and set out the decoys. We had 9 gobblers around us and heard no less than 150 gobbles. They were on fire!!!! We watched them fly down and come into the set up in full strut. I finally got dad turned to where he could get off a shot and a little before 8:00am he had harvested a 28 lb. , 11 1/4" beard, 1 1/8 sprus. This was a big bird!! He was absolutly tickled to death. He is already making plans to come up next year. He said he was going to try to lose 20 more lbs. so it would be easier for he to get turned in the blind. I really think this has given him a new lease on life.
