Well – the Fast and the Furious have nothing on my wife and I. After what my wife thought were “gas pains,” I got up at about midnight and convinced her to call in to the hospital. Needless to say, we sat tight for a little while longer until those “gas” pains became unbearable and turned into contractions that were 2:40 apart (along with a little vomiting). Running around and throwing any wearable piece of clothing into a bag we bailed into the jeep Dukes of Hazard style (well me anyway) and drove Mach 9 to the hospital. My wife reminded me of the speeding cameras, so I slammed on the breaks just in time to hopefully not get my picture taken and then pulled up to the hospital at 1:15am.
To summarize the remaining events, I ran in, ran out to get our stuff, ran in (getting my miles in Coach S.) just in time to say, “there isn’t much time – she’s 9cm.” We got to a room in which my wife drastically realized there would be no epidural - too late. Somehow I got punched in my solo plexus by my wife when one contraction came on – knocking the wind right out of me. I then talked the doc about my profession of being an AP Bio teacher and convinced her I should help deliver the baby (kind of like staying at a Holiday Inn Express). Somehow it worked. No epidural and 3 pushes (along with a minor explosion), out came my son at 1:57am. I got to deliver pretty much everything…it was awesome!
I have to tell you, I feel I am the least of those that should receive such blessings…I cried for God knows how long and counted my many blessings.
Anyway, attached are some pics of Timothy Jace. We’re going to call him Jace. 7lbs 4 oz and 20.25 inches long.
I’m feeling well – thanks……oh, yes, Mama and baby are doing great. No pain meds – I will say she is a champ!
Thanks everyone…
