New ASAT blind

Hardcorehunter

UL Shelter/Stove Geek
I am sorry for not getting these pics posted earlier. I have known about these blinds for over a month and forgot to post pics. I have not actually ylaid my hands on one yet, but plan on getting a couple to compliment my two Double Bulls I already have. I have talked with guys that have seen these ASAT blinds and they say the quality is very similiar to DB. The price is around $240 for these so they are much more reasonable in price than a DB. Their material is 9 oz heavy poly cotton and I believe a DB is only 8 oz.

Some info:

Here is a quote about this blind I found:

Quote "The 8 window configuration is a bowhunter’s dream. The windows are not small portals but large trapezoid/triangle shoot-through mesh windows all the way around the blind that allow the bowhunter to follow the game without obstruction. All 8 window mesh panels are fully removal (Velcro) for those that don’t like or can’t shoot through mesh and are all replacable The one feature of the window system that is a winner is the hook and loop/zipper panels (non-velcro) Let’s say you have a turkey that works in from behind your blind, shooting lane, and decoy set-up and hangs up at around 20-30 yards. With other blinds, you would have to drop one whole side of the blind to prevent skylighting and then in hopes of not creating any movement with a wary Tom at that distance open the other side for a possible shot. With the ASAT window configuration, all I would have to do is hook the shooting lane window closed to prevent skylighting from behind and drop the window where the bird is at with minimal movement. Yes, I have tried with another blind set-up and the ASAT blind system is much faster, quieter, and stealthier!" end of quote

This is a quote from a guy selling them and not me. I wanted to clarify this. I have not seen more than you have from these pics.

Yep, and like what was discussed on Archery Talk. That proportion of ASAT pattern is too small and doesn't really break up the outline. Looks like quality fabric though and I do like ASAT.

If they fix the window system and the size of the pattern it will be a step forward.

Velcro windows = LOUD. Do those hubs lock like the Double Bulls or are they the ones that are just sorta tied together and if you sneeze they bump back in on themselves?

ASAT is a cool camo though.

Yea I agree, it doesn't blend in as well as predator camo. No wonder predator is my favorite. It will still trick an animals' eyes very effectively IMO. This pattern will work just as well as predator for a turkey I would bet. Most guys just use a blind for turkey hunting and at $160 cheaper than a DB, I would assume they will sell quite a few. I have a buddy that will sell them to me for $230 each, so I get two for the price of one $400 DB. From what I have been told the shoot thru windows are held in with velcro instead of sewed in like the DB. With turkey hunting, the shoot thru netting isn't in place anyway, so noise isn't a factor unless one is removing the netting from what I have been told.I believe that the velcro issue someone talked about, is only the netted windows.

Turkeys won't care what it looks like. I have a pair of ASAT coveralls and the pattern is much more open. The pic's make this ASAT pattern look much tighter more some reason. Looks and sounds like it should work well and sell well.

I just receieved my ASAT blind today. I am impressed to say the least. It is every bit as good as quality as my two Double Bulls Matrix and BS5. I received the blind to my door 2 days after the dealer on huntingnet received my order. I have it set up in my family room right now. Guys, this is a top notch blind IMO. I like the feature of the netted windows velcroing in an out as they don't have to be resewn when they are shot out. I will remove them when turkey hunting and they will remain in when whitetail hunting so the noise is not an issue. These are pretty sweet and at $250 suggested retail, I can have two of these for darn near the price of one $400 suggested retail DB Matrix. Same heavyweight poly cotton no shine fabric I love my DB's don't get me wrong and I will still continue to brag about their quality. Both are great blinds but don't let the reasonable price of the ASAT blind fool you, it is a quality blind. The carrying case is better on the ASAT blind than the DB and the backpack straps are comfortable and padded. Even comes with stakes for staking in high wind. The blind hubs make the blind fabric tight and I can tell it will not flap in the wind. I will give a review in a week after my 13 year old boy hopefully arrows and nice tom out of it during youth season. This is the 1st blind that I have seen that will give DB competition. Great product ASAT and Eastman.

Each window zips closed with a high quality nylon zipper if you choose to close any of them. This would be a great feature if you are wanting to seal up a few windows in a cold wind. There are 8 windows to shoot out of and each has a zipper for being shut or you can just clip each window open with a plastic hook located at the top of each window that hooks into a strap sewn into the blind. This pic shows the window closed with the plastic hook for silent opening and closing with no zipper to mess with.

its not the pics, i read in bow and arrow hunting, that they redesigned the pattern, to tighten it up. i think they went too far. i would say half way between where they were and where they are now, would be the best

Some comparison photos. I think that I am the only guy in the area that owns all three of these blinds to compare. Enjoy.

My ASAT dealer just sent me a PM and he wanted my honest opinion on this blind with no sugar coating and what complaints that I have on the blind if any. This is my reply:

Honestly none. I have only played with it; set it up three times, sat in it, tore it down. If I was to place both of these blinds next to each other(the DB and the ASAT) with people that had never heard of either, I would bet that the majority of people would think the ASAT cost more. Both are made out of high quality, thick poly cotton. They both look like they were made by the same manufacturer in China. The ASAT has better brush ties, better tie outs on the hubs, the roof has a different rope on it than the other hubs so you know which hub is the roof, better windows to shoot thru instead of clumped up, wadded up netting like a Matrix, the BS5 window has to be resewn in to replace the netting where the ASAT can be exchanged with a new one simply by velcroing a new one in. I have never shot an arrow through a netted window yet on any of my blinds, but I would think it would be safe to say that a taunt window netting would be more accurate to shoot thru than a wadded up clump like the Matrix. The windows can be totally zipped shut to keep out wind if you choose to where the DB can't. The windows can still be used silently with the plastic hooks exactly like the feature on the DB. The ASAT pretty well offers 360 degree shooting with the 8 large windows. The backpack is awesome, the padded shoulder straps make carrying the blind comfortable and the DB carrying sock has always been my only gripe about the DB.The DB sock is hard to load the blind in or carry it, while the ASAT carrier unzips for loading. Great product that Eastman and ASAT turned out. At nearly $200 cheaper for the ASAT with no sales tax and free shipping that you offer, it is going to be a huge seller IMO and is the 1st blind to give DB competition or be in the same league of quality like a DB.

LOL, I wish!!! $230 and free shipping. Suggested retail on ASAT's site $250. I am just highly impressed with the blind and thought I would pass on the info to my fellow bowhunters in need of a good blind for turkey hunting in a week and a half.

No financial gain nor have I hit them or DB up for any freebees for my review.

To me it looks like the ASAT is half the size. Can you fit 2 hunters in it comfortably with gear? I still would like to know how deer react to that camo pattern.

That is kind of what I was wondering. It looks kind of bright....

Just for everyone's information - the blind is made by Eastman (not Easton as I have seen mentioned several times)
Eastman outfitters is part of the same conglomerate as Carbon Express Arrows and Gorilla Trestands and has no relationship to Easton arrows.
