There's no deer in Iowa! Maybe you should give Missouri a try, I hear it's a real sleeper state

Just kidding, congrats and good luck. I help a guy farm in the M'town area and it's dominated by crop and pasture, not too much in the way of timber.

Look at P&Y, Boone and Crocket or Iowa Big Buck records and you will see very little by way of Marshall County. You may find Bin Laden before you find good deer hunting.

John,I live in Marshalltown,Iowa. We moved her 3 yrs.ago from whitetail heaven[southern Iowa].I do not do any of my hunting here in Marshall Co.There are some bowhunters here that I have visited with and see some of the deer they have taken.I feel that there is not a lot of pressure on the deer here, and if this place you will be hunting has been managed or not gun hunted you might be in a honey hole.Is it any where near the river?Like some of the fellas said this county is mostly crops.Let me know if I can be of some help to you.You never know where a big buck is holed up.

Thanks for the response Brent.I recall my friend saying something about a river nearby but will have to double check.I know they also raised alot of hogs there at one time.

I'm from back east in Ct.and just aquired permission to bowhunt whitetails on a friends 300 acre old farm in Marshalltown.Anyone have any info. on how good the hunting is in this area?My friend says his farm is surrounded by corn with a few sparse acres of trees.Thanks.

Good luck John with your new hunting spot. When you harvest your trophy next fall be sure to send a picture to Iowa Whitetail. Remember you can't shot the big one when your taking care of the small ones.
