New camo setup

Team Haastyle

Host of Haastyle Hunting
Well my Dream Season Scentblocker suit has finally bit the dust after 5 years of being in the woods :(. So im now in the market of getting a new suit. Figured Id ask you guys for some input to what the best suit on the market is in your opinion.

I'd rather spend $$ an be warm an dry in my gray wolfwoolens than waste $$$ on "scent controlling" products

I have worn King of the mountain wool for the last 4 years and I guarantee you will not find a better product. Warm, quiet, and durable. A bit spendy but hunting clothes are the last thing to skimp on when you put alot of hours in. :way:

Gray Wolf Woolens

Nothing better than Gray Wolf Woolens and Jeff is as good of a guy as you will find. I wish I had known about them earlier because in the long run it would have saved me a lot of money.

just looked at gray wolfs 3 in 1 jacket and $550 bucks is just a bit otta my price range. Actually most of grays wolfs stuff is..i guess if you have the money for it more power to ya

Out of curiousity for the Grey wolf guys, How durable is it. The one thing holding me back is that I don't like to think about babying my stuff while I am hunting. I go over fences, through the thickest chit you can imagine, etc. and I am down right hard on stuff. If I am gonna drop the $400 on a pair of bibs I don't want to do what I usually do and rip them the first year. Staying warm, i think I have that down (except for on a day like today with the -20 windchills) so if that is the main reason for buying the stuff I would pass. Staying dry is huge, but I have alot of other gear that I stay dry in. I guess I am wondering who all has grey wolf, how long you have had it, and how durable it has been.

I don't think there's anything on the planet that will allow you to walk through multiflower rose without tears. The stuff that might isn't hunting clothes anyway. Gray wolf is 1) warm. 2) quiet 3) long lasting if you use your head.

It will rip/tear if you tear thru multiflower rose, but so will Carhartts. It will rip/tear if you snag on barbed wire, so will Carhartts. Nothing will stand the test of time but if you use your head the Gray Wolf stuff will last a lifetime as its material is way better than anything from Cabelas, that's my opinion.

I have GWW since 2006 and it hasn't faded one bit and you know how hard I hunt. It has snagged on thorns an barb wire too. Jeff also said that if you snag it real bad he will fix it for as cheap as he can possibly do it. Cabelas won't replace stuff if its "normal wear and tear"m. Food for thought. My stuff has seen 5 hard seasons an still looks very new.

Snagged the crotch and a knee on a brand new barb wire fence. Last fence I was going over for the day. Took them to the Classic for Jeff to look at. He took them home, took out a couple of seams so he could fix them right, mailed them back all for around 25 bucks. I have no complaints about my GreyWolf.

Muddy/Bonker

thanks for the input. I know you guys have been wearing the stuff for awhile and it still looks brand new which speaks volumes for hunting clothes. As far as durability, I am sure that I will put some snags and holes in it, but it soundsl like Jeff will take care of you if/when it does, will just have to be a bit more careful if I do decide to go with GWW. A few more questions, do both of you guys have the wolfskin, Muddy I am pretty sure that is what you have? Know of anyone who has the wool and/or heard any positives/negatives about it.

Also, looking at the website it appears that there are a couple options for jackets, the pullovers, lined jackets and 3-in-1. I would likely go with the lined jacket, just wanted to know if you guys have any opinions on 1 over the other. Bibs would be my other choice as I just like to wear them and if it is really warm I always have the lighter weight predator pants I can throw on.

Kratz,
I have had my pants and coat since 2005. I have not a single tear, snag or camo fade. The stuff is awesome. The wind-stopping ability, how fast it dries and the fact it doesn't get noisy and it is custom fit to your size is another advantage. Jeff is one of the best guys you will meet and is a craftsman with a needle. I know I jump up and down and beat my chest about a lot of products but this one is all around the most valued piece of hunting gear I own.

I have the coat, pullover, a vest and 2 pairs of pants. I like the coat for treestand hunting and pullover for the ground. If I had it to do over again I would get the bibs for treestand hunting for the simple fact that they are a breeze to put on over boots. Weasel has the bibs and if he had longer legs I would knock him out and take his bibs... :D

The other decision is the lining. Weasel has the lite loft and the comfortmax and is too warm in the early season but he has some unlined stuff he wears then. I have the comfortmax lined and can wear it in the early season and be comfortable but I don't get cold that easy.

Chris has the wool stuff I know and he also has the wolf skin and he maybe can chime in on the wool. The other thing I will say is I don't know anyone harder on equipment than Chris and if he says its tough... its tough... :D

I can say once you have the stuff you will never look for a different set of camo. This stuff is an investment not a purchase. :way:

Okay enough chest beating and jumping up and down... :D

Bibs are awesome, full zipper is best thing in the world. if I did it over I'd get them as warm as I could because I have the uninsulated stuff for early season.

I can't add anything else other than reiterate how sweet bibs are. No drafts up the back, no belt, and they are warmer. Coat or pullover? I love my pullovers but after 5 years wish I had a coat simply cuz I knock my glasses off when I pull the pullover off.

Make sure you get double butt/knees and 3 straps on your bow arm. I also got a cell phone pocket put inside my pullover as well as flaps over the pockets. Those little things are creature comforts but worth it. Gimmie a call if you have any other questions.

I'm thinking i would have to get another job just to buy the whole set up. Sure the clothing is top notch, but a little steep for me...

If I had the money or an understanding wife, I would be all over them - they would definitely be my choice. Maybe when my buckskin realtree scent-lok (which I don't believe in by the way) pants wear out, I'll look into them - love the quietness/comfort. But I have shot many-a-deer in the ol' Walmart brand bibs I wear when it's cold. Heck, they've faded so much, they look like predator camo! :D Bought them as my first camo set back in college and have a hard time parting ways with them...

Matt, Matt, Bonk

Again, I appreciate all the input. I know it is a bit steep but for quality I will pay. I might have to give Jeff a call and talk with him a bit.

Thanks again
Jarin
