Hi everyone. I'm kind of new here but kind of not. I believe I was a member on here before, with another name, may have been Turkeytale or NYhuntress or something, not sure. Here is a little information about me though incase any of you recognize me:) I'm live in NY state, been hunting 5, going on 6 years. Started bow hunting 3 years ago.Umm... I love to shed hunt, turkey hunt, whitetail deer hunt, small game hunt, and fish. I am a sophomore student at Houghton College, first was a major in Athletic Training but the college kind of got rid of that major so I am now an Outdoor Rec. major with minors in athletic training and environmental stewardship. I also enjoy playing basketball(played on a homeschool b-ball team for 3 years) and indoor/outdoor soccer. Luckily the college has intramurals so that is how I get my sports in:) I am also getting into backpacking and camping, lots of it!Ummm... I have a horse, 4 rabbits, a cat, parakeet, and a twin sister,LOL. Of course I won't mention ALL our animals, lol! Well I guess that is all for now. I will be visiting the shed forums alot though, too much snow here in NY but I am raring to find some!By the way, yes I do have some sheds that I've found, lol. I can at least brag that last spring, I found two matched sets, bringing my matched set total to 3,lol:)

Welcome back turkeygirl! What kind of bow do you shoot? My wife has expressed an interest in bowhunting, but don't know what kind to get her. Anything you recommend? Thanks

Welcome to the greatest whitetail site in the world. I lived in New Nork for 22 years and now in Akaska. Make sure you post your shed pics for us. I'm moving back to New York in 2005.Well good luck shedding.

This is my first year shed hunting, I went out once but the snow was past my knees and I didn't find any. Hope to go out again in the next few days. Sounds like you like pets as much as I do!

FireDog.... I shoot an older version of a Hoyt bow. Well when I first started 3 years ago, it was my dad's old bow when he got a new one. Had no let off, a real stinker, had to shoot it with one of those little plastic rests. Well the second year of bowhunting, had 2 bucks come right under my stand one morning, missed the first then the second! My dad then tells me of this used bow at the bow shop for like $125 or $150. I tried the bow and it came home with me:)Actually shot a deer the next day with it:-D It is a Hoyt Mystic Rebel, with 60% or 65% let-off. I have a NAP Quicktune rest on it, shooting graphite arrows and I'm pulling aroun 47 pounds I think... got my second deer with that bow just this past season so it's making itself useful, lol. One thing I can say is get your wife a good bow but one that has let-off and she can pull back.

Welcome back turkeygirl, I remember you as well. I believe you introduced yourself very similarly last time. I would expect your intro would grab the attention of many single guys on this site as it has jerad. I have been encouraging my wife to get more involved with me and or sons in our hunting endeavors. Kat's active presents on this site and now yours will be just a bit more encouragement. I know we have a few other Ladies here, hoggie's Julie for one. Who else? Maybe time to start a ladies hunting forum to further encourage women hunters.

welcome turkeygirl. nice to have you aboard. now answer my question: WHY HAVEN'T MY DEER DROPPED THEIR ANTLERS? i have walked all over heck trying to find those darn things!

LOL you all! I'm not seeking any boyfriends lately, lol. to answer your question SplitG3, I'm not sure why you haven't found any. Are you looking like on trails,in bedding and feeding areas? Those are usually good places, also along fencelines where the deer may travel. I would think deer in Ohio have shed already unless your winter is somewhat mild. I've had a few springs where I walk all over, looking in al lthe good spots and find nothing. Then I'll finalyl get in the groove and find some. Don't give up,keep looking
