New Longbeard tactics

Cornfed

Bowhunting Addict
I have been thinking of some different ideas for decoy setup this spring with the longbeards early season. I was wondering what kind of response I might get with a jake decoy and real tailfan attached laying on the ground. I thought I remember reading somewhere a while back about the Double Bull guys using a tailfan with the back feathers lying flat on the ground and the toms just could not wait to pounce on the thing.

Anyone try anything like this?

I think the strutting tom decoy is the best tactic out there right now IMO. If you put him by himself it doesn't work really well, but if you put 3 or 4 hen decoys with him, its game time.

I like that jake idea, though. I'm going to try it.

A upright tailfan with the backfeathers works great at times. A friend and I were hunting at Double K when Keith and Brooks first started to use them. Not sure who came up with the idea, but it works.
