I know a lot of the guys/gals on here don't like to post their bigger deer I will try to bring some of that back. I will post my largest deer on cam I have had so far this year. This buck isn't huge by any means but nevertheless is a nice deer.

Any guess on Age?
Will be a great buck next year.

Looks like he has some width to him. If he makes 14in g2s 11 in g3s you'd be looking at a hella nice buck.

not sure what date those were taken , but he looks like he could be a stud this year to me . From the angle in those pics I really cant guess on age but Ill say 3 yr minimum .

Great buck! I can't wait to see pics of him in hard-horn! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

So this may be a dumb question but do you think he will put on a couple inches on those tines in length? Granted he would be hard to pass up with a bow but I would pass him up with my muzzleloader.

He still has some finishing out to do. It all depends on what else you have running around.

If that is the biggest buck on the place then he is a shooter by all means.

I realize that anything can happen during the rut when bucks hyper extend their range, but I think sometimes people get caught up hunting for something that isn't there.

You know what they say, the first step to shooting a big buck is hunting them where they exist.

Good luck on him...he looks nice.

Heck ya they're going to gain length, it's way early still. They still have plenty of time to increase lenth, width and mass. If you have a buck that already looks like a stud in early July, you can almost bet the farm he's a shooter in October. This is making me want to go check my cams.

You can't really say that just because a deer has great growth in early July that he will be exceptional in October.

Antler cycles will vary greatly from deer to deer. The growth cycle is different for each buck just like the shedding process and time frame are different for each buck.

Some bucks may shed antlers at the end of December, and some may hold antlers into April.

The same goes for the antler growth cycle. This buck is really advanced in his growth cycle for this time of year. He is not displaying large "bulbs" on his antler tips that would tell me he has a lot of growth left to do.

In other words, although he will continue to gain some tine length, I think his "growth burst" has happened.

Some kids are 6 feet tall in 7th grade and others are 4 feet tall... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
