"You Cant Fix Stupid"
Hey guys new to the site and first post so be easy on me! Just locked up some new prime time hunting ground that was just to the south of where i hunted last year like 1/2 mile away if that and was going to go check it out this weekend any suggestions on where to put up a trail cam this time of year i know look for heavy use trails but have never started scouting this early in the year i'm kinda new to bow 3rd year to it so still learning any input would be greatly appreciated!

Timber

Doublebrow: Can you describe the land to us, approximate acres, creeks, food sources, type of timber etc... Then we can give you some guidelines.

It's mainly a big J shaped Timber with a logging road that goes threw it river is just 1000 yards from it 2 big rock quarrys butt up on southwest. corn on both sides last year dont know what will be this year. It is pretty primo ground that i just got permission for today and I saw a Brute back there last year!! the timber has some low marshy spots in it from what i remember walking thru it quick last year. I know there is alot of deer in the area so i'm sure wherever i put it i'll be fine also goin to find a big ol' tree to hang my new ladder stand on! I got the fever early this year and i LOVE IT!!!

Sounds like a good parcel, I would do what Letemgrow suggested. Put out a mineral lick or two, try one near the lowland area on the logging road and put the camera on video if it has that feature, then watch where the deer come from and you will be able to determine approximate bedding areas...then scout the area for sign in September or earlier and hang stands!! Good luck.

Sweet i dont have a video on my trail cam so i'll have to guess where there coming from i like the idea of the logging road i am gonna have to invest in a new trail cam now that i get to hunt this new ground!!! Is it October yet?

Just for FYI sake, of course not all deer are coming from bedding areas. In the early afternoon or late morning, more than likely coming from bedding, late afternoon/evening or early morning they are probably coming from the feeding area. Video is not necessary on the camera, but it does put the pieces to the puzzle together a bit better.
