New to Iowa Whitetails

Just wanted to say howdy and introduce myself. Everyone in AZ calls me Bravo and I'm a native of 34 years. (other than my 3 year stint in the Army). I may be taking a job in Sioux City soon and I'm excited about the prospect of hunting Giant Iowa Whitetails! In AZ we have the Coues Whitetail but a big buck scores between 90-110 inches and a truely giant is around 120-130 inches. We make up for the Coues deer with our Giant Bull Elk though and that is fun stuff too. Although I'm an accomplished bowhunter in the west, Iowa seems like the moon to me and I'm looking forward to getting familiar with the the mid-west way of hunting. So I'm sure you will see me on here often asking questions and methods to help my learning curve. As time is available I will post up pics in my gallery of some of my trophies from AZ. Take care all and thanks!! :drink2:

Welcome to the site! And to Iowa when you get here! There are a lot very knoweldgeable people on these forums who could answer just about any question you might have so don't hesitate to ask.

Lots of knowledgeable folks on here who will help you figure it out. I grew up in Iowa and have lived in AZ for the last 14 years now. You will love the small-town mentality in Iowa and its a great place to raise a family (and hunt and fish)!

If you can hunt Coues, you shouldn't have a single problem with our Whitetails up here.. besides the regular problems we all have..

wind/scent, spooking deer on the way in/out, getting cold hands and feet (not much of this yet this year), looking at still weeds before its completely light out..thinking they are moving/thinking they are various different animals, etc. haha

that last one is my favorite, but I still do it almost every time out, then I always feel like an idiot when it get light! lol

Welcome...make yourself at home. :way: Follow some of these guys around here and you may find yourself behind an Iowa giant someday! :way:
