New turkey broadhead

I know its a little early to be talking turkey, but I saw this on Bowsite and wanted to plug a Kansas business. Some of you guys may already use Magnus broadheads. Well, they came out with some competition for the guilitine(sp?). They are supposed to be far superior in strength and fly much better. Field testing shows that with a well tuned bow, the 100 gr. flies great out to 50 yards. And no straws on the blades. I guess the Double Bull guys used them all spring and loved them. We'll have to see what all you turkey killers think.

Interesting... I'll probably stick with the Hammerheads but those look like they'd work if put in the right place.

real interesting, wonder if there are staws and junk. I just would hate the hassle of carrying them. and I think ill soot my recurve..

Gundog, no straws, no assembling, no hassles.

They said that they were getting pass thrus on body shots as well. Hitting the wing butt and out the other side. Bird ain't going anywhere.

got any link to any reaading material. I am gunna do a search quick.

All I can suggest as far as info goes, there are a few different threads on Bowsite about the heads. The guys from Magnus are on there discussing the new heads. They are not "officially" out yet, so info may be slim. Supposed to hit stores Jan. '08.

I'd guess that the 125 would not penetrate, 3 3/4 inch cut is going to hit a lot of feather and stop. The smaller one just reminds me of any old broadhead be it a fixed or expandable. To me they reinvented the wheel, the big one is just the Guillotine with a little tweaking. The smaller one is just another fixed head. Either one will work if placed in the right spot, same as any other head.

I'll stick with the Hammerheads.

Looks to be a knock off of Rocket broadheads to be honest. The Hammerheads are 2 inch cuts @ 100 grains and the Sledgehammers are 3 inch cuts @ 150 grains. I imagine that 2 3/4 inch cut at 125 grain would stop a turkey pretty fast as well. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

they are made by rocket. never seen sledgehammers

Sledgehammer is just a little bit bigger. I think a couple guys on here use them. I think they have to be on a broomstick to work properly. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I actually just started using Sledgehammers this spring in Texas and Iowa and neither bird went 10 yds. Impressive heads and out to 20yds fly just like my 100 gr. hammerheads. They also came out with a 125 gr versions. Hit em right though with anything and they go down. Just a little margin for error with these monsters!
