Nikon Coyote Special

JakeWym

Arrow Chucker
Just wondering if anyone has tried this scope, and what they think of it. Thinking of putting one on a .223. Thanks

I don't have the coyote special, but if its like any other Nikon scope that I have personally purchased, you'll like it.

My Nikon Omega has stayed true on my muzzleloader since I first set the zero.

I also have been thinking about putting one on my .223.

I guess my question would be how difficult it would be to get a tight group when sighting in at 100 yards? That circle doesn't appear to me to be as precise as a cross hair?

Perhaps it is just me?

I just got one a couple weeks ago but haven't got it mounted yet. I will probably get it mounted next week and give it a test run. I let you know what I think.

Got the 4.5 x 14 the other day, just need to take it and get it sighted in. The glass is awesome and I am pumped to try it out on some song dogs!

So do we have any upates on these Nikon BDC Varmint Special scopes:confused:

Has anyone tried them, what do you think? Good points, not so good points?

Inquring minds want to know. :D

I talked to a guy at work that is a big coyote hunter and has this scope and he says it works awesome on paper at the designated ranges. He said it sucks for hunting though because he can't judge yardage well. He has missed a lot because the coyotes are actually closer than he thinks. He said it is dang hard to judge yardage when they are on the move and the scope is turned up. He claims he never used to miss with a 250 yard zero and a single cross hair.

He did say its awesome on prairie dogs though. I guess my thoughts are, where I live anyways, is that it really isn't needed. I have shot probably 40 coyotes and the farthest one was 220 yards. The rest were all inside of 100 yards. I guess I would call it situational. If you have open land and a rangefinder, it would probably be awesome!!

I was all about getting one of these...but I opted not to because of the reasons you just mentioned. Found a good deal on a nice single cross haired scope instead. I agree...probably a good buy for bench shooters.
