"Iowa State University didn't waste any time in the hunt for a new men's basketball coach. Greg McDermott, coach of the UNI Panthers, will be announced as the new head coach at a news conference at 6:00 tonight in Ames."

Hey Limb, we don't agree on nascar drivers but it looks like we both agree this is a good move!!

I hope Jamie Pollard got his guy. I hope McDermott knows what he is getting into. Win now or your fired!

Its Lute Olsen all over again. Its been how many years? And I still hold a grudge.

I just assumed if he was gonna move it would be to the Big Ten (Iowa) not the Big 12 (ISU).

One more example of "This is my dream job" turning into "Money Talks, Dream Jobs Walk".

I do wish him luck. But not too much.

Coming soon to a network near you, Coach Swap!

About the show:
Have you ever wondered whether the grass is greener on the other side of the fence? Coaches discover that it often isn't when they hand over the keys to their offices and literally switch jobs for the season on the new reality show Coach Swap, destined to be a critically-acclaimed smash hit.

Coach Swap is not a competition or a contest. It is a reality show unlike any other, where the battlegrounds are the basketball arenas and living rooms, ticket sales are a subject of intense and heated debate, and the outcome is a cash prize and a University’s opportunity to re-discover why they love alums and all their cash.

In the first week of the swap, the coaches move in with their new family and adopt their very different lifestyle. In the second week, everything changes. The new coaches take charge. They introduce their own set of rules and get to run the new household their way. It's a radical shock to both families. The results are explosive, enlightening and often very funny. This is a show about the things that really matter to college basketball fans across America.

I think McDermont had built a much better program an UNI then he is stepping into at ISU, especially since blaylock and stinson have already said they are gone. I wonder if the 7 footer that committed to UNI will follow Mac down to ISU, he better hope so. Anyhow I think whoever said it about money talks had it right, the MVC and UNI couldn't pay Mac the money he deserves but they are truly loosing a great piece of a program and conference.

yeah i don't think he got the guy he wanted either but its just like iowa state to settle for second best or whatever. i think McDermott is a good coach and has more coaching experience than Jeter but there will be a difference from coaching missuri valley to the big 12 and i hope they give him a chance to develop a program.

I just got done watching Wayne Morgan have his press conference. Even though I'm not an ISU fan, he seemed to be a real classy guy. Never said a bad word about ISU or anyone there, even though I'm sure that he has to fuming somewhat inside. I think that McDermott is a great coach, but like all the other coaches at ISU right now, you better win or Pollard will fire you!

Funniest quote I think I have ever seen... Talk about an oxymoron...

Ya gotta love the self hating ISU fan.

I'm not sure what you mean by not deserving him. He will be a great asset to your program and the pride of the enitre state. He will be on a much larger stage in the Big 12 than the MVC, but the stage could be bigger if the coaches from the so called "Mid Majors" would stick around and continue to build their programs and then the so called "Mid Majors" would be "Majors" too. I, for one, love parity. I think this years NCAA tourney shows that.

Growing up in a Hawkeye family, I was exorcised of the demons and graduated from ISU. As a ISU fan, I am looking for some stability. We've been through too many coaches in the last couple of years. We never seemed to be able to have consistent recruiting as recruits were concerned that the coach would leave. Looking forward to having a coach that can build a program. Go ISU!!!!!!!!
