OH MAN!!! Now who do we believe. DNR says yes and some so called EXPERT says NO!! What special rumors and what about the trail cam pic that I believe Limb Chicken posted? Makes you wander, cover up?

LMAO.....lion or not. Possible, yes, believable, ????. There will always be a lion controversy every year within the state, some legit, others wanting attention. Point being, they are moving in from our northwest area (SD, WY, CO, etc) or escapees from captivity. There will always be a lion in every county in IA and the DNR will be responnsible for its release based on redneck Joe and his cousins cousin. Just don't post a pic with a giant lion and a guy in a blue sweatshirt with any of the posts here....he has met his nine lives by this point

Yeah but what about this guy that shot this mountain lion in Marshall County. As you can clearly see he's not wearing a blue sweatshirt.

Besides I know it's true because his wife's sister's husband works with a friend of my wife's second cousin's uncle.

Hey, pictures don't lie, this proves there are mountain lions in Marshall County!

I have a trail cam pic of a Mt Lion in Marshall County from 2004. I have no idea how to post it, not good with computers. If someone knows how to post it I can email it to you. It's a cool pic.

Here is the article from todays metro.

Mountain lion cleared in deer's death

A deer that was first believed to have been killed by a mountain lion was likely attacked by a dog or coyote, state environmental officials said Tuesday.

The deer was discovered last week by a property owner near Bangor in Marshall County.

Officials said it had claw marks on the hindquarters and puncture wounds to the neck and head. The 150-plus-pound deer was dragged 50 yards into some pine trees, leading DNR officials to believe it was killed by a mountain lion.

National mountain lion experts examined photos of the dead deer and determined its injuries were caused by a canine, according to a news release from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

"I'd say it's good news," said Ron Andrews, a DNR furbearer biologist. "All in all, it creates undue paranoia, and we want to avoid that above all else."

A mountain lion was spotted in Marshall County in October 2004, and the DNR was criticized for not getting the word out fast enough, said Rick Trine, wildlife biologist for the area.

"We erred on the side of getting the word out fast based on what we found, and I would much rather be corrected by the experts from out West, than to have it wrong," Trine said.

My pic is from Oct 24 2004, I'm sure the same one. The report I heard was some weird guy had one as a pet and one day just let him go. Who knows.
