North East Missouri Public Land

I live in South East Iowa and plan to jump across the boarder and hunt some longbeards in Missouri this spring. Can anyone give me some information on public hunting areas in North East Missouri. I have checked out the missouri department of conservation website and see that there is plenty of places to hunt, but I am looking to find somewhere where there isn't too much hunting pressure and a good amount of birds. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I know from experience that some of the larger public areas in NE Mo get absolutely pounded during turkey season. I would actually look for some smaller areas, scout early and scout well...and then plan on being the first pickup in the parking lot, or field entrance. Heck, be in the woods and set up before anyone even thinks of walking in on you.

Don't get me wrong, those big areas have plenty of birds...but everyone and their brother from all across the US will be there beacause they have read the magazine articles that mention those certain areas.

Good luck! I am also a two-state turkey hunter....I just can't get enough turkey hunting......

Charlie Heath memorial is public in NE Missouri- Clark county. Lots of turkeys in the area but depending on the day and season it gets some traffic. I pulled into the lot about 1030 one day- six vehicles and a tom strutting about 200 yards from the lot. Don't know where people were hunting.
