Lots of pears but they are tiny compared to the usual year(s)

Are the deer eating the pears yet? Seems the pears on our trees are pretty hard and starchy yet. I personally like to wait for a frost/light freeze before eating pears. With apples next to the pears, I think the deer in our area are concentrating on apples.
