Interior canadas (usually weigh 6 to 9 lbs) and giant canadas (usually weigh 9 to 15lbs) should not be referred to as "Carp". They are blue collar workers like the rest of us...
Now, lesser canadas (you know, the ones that squeek and weight between 2oz. and 5lbs) and snow geese are referred to as "Sky Carp".
Seriously, nothing beats lying in bed in the fall and listening to the big honkers thunder over the house on their way to the pea fields from the river just north of home.
My wife hates it, it's music to my ears!
Mark, On the honkers We've had a few show up but most are locals. St.Paul refuge is seeing quite afew mixed big ducks show up this week. Were heading up to elm creek tonight to work on blinds.
Still real early for honkers, we usually don't get them until December.... I am really looking forward to the big ducks coming down... Nothing like a fat red leg mallard!!!!!
absolutely love that sight...that is the sight that is taking me away from bowhunting this year, i only been out onece and have been goose hunting several times...i have been in on over 40 goose kills so far this season already...love it...all in fields by the way
Hey, As much as I love waterfowl hunting it doesn't even come close to bowhunting a big mature whitetail in my books. You won't see me in the duck blind untill the muzzy hits home. Our duck and goose hunting doesn't really get good till december anyway and they finally extended our season.
