Nothing better than an Iowa Whitetail

Hello all...I just wanted to say Hi to everyone. I just recently became a member of this forum. I grew up in small town Iowa and now live in Alaska. As the slugs are flying this weekend, I couldn't help but feel a little homesick being 5000 miles away. This website has enabled me to at least get caught up on all the is going on in my great home state. Hope to join in some of your discussions in the near future. To those of you who are tagged out for the year..congrats. For the rest of you, good luck!!

Welcome aboard! You may want to get accquainted with one of our regulars...Alaskan. He lives up there in your neck of the woods

Welcome to the site!

I could see being homesick during deer season for sure.

What took you to Alaska from Iowa?

Bout time you showed up!!! Ghost, he's the only guy I know to move to AK and find a single lady to latch on to.

Ogz...I figured I'd see you on here some time. To be quite honest, I couldn't watch this forum since I got to Alaska because it makes me so homesick that I would almost go into a mild state of depression. Alaska is the most beautiful place on earth that I've seen with tons of opportunity and all kinds of critters to chase, but there is something about the simplicity of Iowa that I miss more than I can explain. I've been here for almost 4 years now, and am truly looking forward to leaving here this coming summer to head for the midwest to chase whitetails again. I'll always be able to come back here to hunt, but there's nothing like having a treestand within a few minutes from your doorstep. Nothing in this state has made my heart race like hearing a buck in the leaves behind your treestand. It is something we on this fourm live for and that's what is going to bring me back!
Thanks for checking out my website!

Welcome Shoot2kill. The photos on your site are awesome! My favorites are the fox and the dall sheep.

Welcome shoot2kill, I was curious as, I've seen your web page elsewhere. Did you have it on the alaska talk forum. For being in the same neck of the woods, were still really far apart. A good plane flight or driving a whole day. Maybe we can catch up and do some fishing, who knows.

Alaskan, you've probably seen my website on the AK hunting forum or the Pristine Ventures site. I follow those religously. I'd love to hook up with you and catch a few kings, but I'll be leaving Alaska just as the fish start to run this summer.

At any rate, maybe I'll make it to Fairbanks this spring for the ice carving competition and we could hook up then?

Rush isn't the word. He's damn lucky he isn't bear scat out on the tundra right now!!! Maybe he'll post the story sometime. It's quite an ordeal.

Nothing better than an Iowa Whitetail..bear story.

Okay Ogz, since you prompted me, I guess I can't leave everyone hanging about the bear story. The link below is to a short version of the story that I wrote for the AK Hunting Forum. The story was later published in the summer edition of the Safari Club International newsletter. I'm hoping to get the story in Outdoor Life or Bear Hunting magazine out of Minnesota. I just recently got the rug back..glad I didn't shoot a 10 footer! I'd have no room for it!
