Well thank god for the cold spell. It was to cold for laying brick this morning so I had chance to hunt other than the weekend. I had a good encounter with a shooter last week so I figured I go back to that stand. Didn't see much until 8:15, the buck I had so close last week come sneaking in behind me. By the time I got my bow and stopped him he was half in ?half out of a shooting lane but I thought I could sqeeze one in the boiler. Well that didn't pan out , I caught a branch and missed clean. He ran about 20 yds and stopped. I grunted a little but he slowly moved on and bumped a doe on the edge of a corn field about 100 yds out so rattled a little and he headed back my way. In the meantime a little forkey came in behind me and hung around at 15 yds just long enough for my buck to come over and check things out. I still couldn't get a shot for the brush. Finally the forkey took of and he came strait to my tree and sniffed some of the Buck bomb I had sprayed. I bent over and shot straight down and hit him just behind shoulder and 2 inches from spine. He ran 25 yds and toppled over. He wasn't quite as big as I had remembered from last week but he is right at 150 and I couldn't be happier. He was a 6
x6 but his right side crabclaw is
broke and the tip of his left brow is broke also... .
