Few months ago I considered this coming. All crops are out,,what there was.No acorns in my area. My plots ,planted in Aug, are dried up and gone. Even Rye. No rain in sight, possibly rest of the month.Waiting between bedding and feeding areas,,what feeding areas? I assume some others are like this, as today radio said 75% of Iowa is still in Extreme drought. Just get lucky a deer happens by.

Ive only been huntin one of my spots so far this year, waitin till a little later to hunt where only I go and can be selective about a buck, but the farmer where ive been goin is just now gettin his beans out and hasnt touched any corn! Seein some deer, havent got on top of any yet though. Thinkin ill whack a doe this weekend. Watched a nice buck cross the river right at sunrise this mornin at about 80 yds. Just happy to be out there.

Got some rain down my way yesterday. Not sure how it helped my plots.? Should have planted them earlier, so they would have gotten some size before lack of rain, crops gone, deer in em, and cold, shut em down. Maybe better next year? This makes two yrs though a struggle to get plots going because of dryness. By Nov,,when I hunt,,will only be brush for food, is my point. Will be different.

X2.

I just over seeded some soybeans last night. Did the same last year about this time too. A little late but turned out great last year. I except the same now if the rain does indeed make it here

Update on this crazy season. Rye I planted with clover finally emerged last week. finally enough moisture. Planted way back end of Sept. Other plots of rape and radish finally growing too at this late date. Fear tiny clover plants might die out over winter though. Supposed to hard freeze this weekend, upper twenties at least. good bye to all growth!
