Ol' 3legs

Checked the trail cam this weekend hoping to find a big one on there, but no luck. I did recognize this deer. I have his left side shed from last year. It's just a dink 3 pt.

Looking at the pic I thought he looked a little thin, but normal. Then after a few pics it hit me, he's missing a leg!

I'm guessing that would explain the lack of body weight having to work a little harder. His right side is a little goofy, and not sure what will come of it. Left side, just like last year is a 3 pt side. That injury wouldn't have anything to do with him being a dink 3x3 would it?

It's characteristic to have a goofy antler opposite the side of an injury. My guess would be that he might be a bit bigger in both body weight and antler size if it weren't for the injury.
P.S. Might be the start of a G3 on his normal side though.

Neat pics. I watched a deer for 3 years that was missing a back leg. I saw him one year with the injured leg dangling, then the next 2 with it gone. He was a big deer, and definately would have shot him the last year given the chance. He got bigger each year. It's amazing to me how tough they are to survive like that.

One area I use to hunt had a buck missing his LF leg and never did develop much on his right side. Also shot several does on this farm missing a leg.The last one I killed was on a push and was the slowest in the group.Did not notice till I walked up on it when it was down and flipped it over and noticed it was missing it's LF leg.Guess it had a good reason why she was the slowest in the group.I take that most were hit during the mowing season. Was strange to see several on one farm.

Lots of similarities to "THE FREAK" from the Iowa Giants DVD...similar leg injury with similar (opposite side) rack configuration due to the injury.

Three legged deer can get around pretty decent. I'd let him grow, should be easy to keep track of him.
