? on NR Landowner anterless tags

Does anyone know how many acres one has to own to qualify for the NR anterless tag? I've checked the Iowa DNR website but found nothing. Thanks.

Not sure, but last I knew non-residents who owned property in Iowa didn't qualify for any sort of "landowner tag". I always thought you had to be a resident of the state regardless. Maybe there's something new out there that I'm not aware of. Kind of hard to keep up with all the different regulation changes these days for some reason.

CRITR,
That is inaccurate. If a NR owns land, and does not draw an any sex tag, he/she can purchase a guaranteed doe tag with proof of land ownership. Only one "landowner" can buy the tag if multiple people own the property.

Thanks for clarifying.

Also, it is a very expensive doe tag too, running around $240 if my recollection is right.

A NR is also not eligible for the doe tag, if they are partners with an Iowa resident. There is only one free landowner tag and in this case, it goes to the resident.

I've been reading all the posts in regards to the number of NR tags. I am a NR landowner, in partnership with an Iowa resident. Although I would love to draw a NR tag every year, I'll take my chances to simply have the opportunity to hunt Iowa. I had a tag this year and did not fill it. I had plenty of chances but chose to wait for the right buck. Towards the end of the hunt I thought I might take a doe, but it never happened.

Maybe there isn't a minimum acreage of land needed or the NR Landowner antlerless?? Sounds unlikely but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

The affidavit below doesn't say anything about how much land you must own, but however the licence that you recieve is only good for the land that you own. So basically if you own a 1/4 acre you must hunt that 1/4 acre. I don't see why you would go through all the hassel, just buy a NR doe tag over the counter. Being a land owner gives you first opportunity but no price cut or anything else. I am pretty sure the 2,500 NR doe tags didn't sell out last year.

if you don't draw for the first lottery, like say i dont get an archery tag, can i still buy the anterless tag without losing my preference point that i would earn?

we bought an anterless license one year that me and my pops didnt draw a 1st shotgun tag. we didnt lose the pref. point, but i guess i dont know if they changed it or not.

Apply for the either sex permit, if you dont draw, you can get a landowner antlerless after the draw for the same price as a non res, non-landowner antlerless permit. So if I dont draw, instead of getting a landowner NR permit, I get one that is good anywhere in the zone, I do it every year I dont draw. Also, there is no min amount of land required to get the landowner pref.

If you are not sucessful in the drawing for the any sex tag and decide that you want a doe tag then you can go buy one. This does not remove your prefrence point for the following season.
