Arrow Chucker
I took a half of a day off work so that I could go out with my Dad this morning. He filled his 1st season shotgun tag on a nice bird yesterday, and was confident the birds would be back there today, so he left the blind out for us this morning. We had birds gobbling before we even got to the tent, and they never did let up. About 8:00, a group of 4 toms, 3 jakes, and 8 hens worked there way near our setup. They all hung up at about 100 yards to our east, and put on a show for about an hour. Just as they were getting ready to leave, we spotted a lone gobbler coming from the south. I readied my bow, as the old man lay down some clucks and purrs. Knowing this bird was committed, all I had to do was not screw up the shot. With sun shining into the blind, I waited for him to give our Pretty Boy a chest bump, and then I drew. As he made his was around the back side of PB, I settled the Bullhead right on the base of his neck and let it go. Dad and I looked on in amazement as the Tom just sat there and stared at us only 6 yards away. I could see right away that one of the bullhead blades had caught a peice of Double Bull Mesh, and I thought the gig might be up. Once again to my surprise, the tom very calmly made an about face, and very slowly started walking away from the blind. Now in scramble mode, I grabbed another arrow tipped with a Muzzy this time, settled the pin, and this time at 20 yards the shot was true. Upon impact, the tom went into full gallop. He made it 30 yards on a dead run and piled up on his face. Awesome hunt with dad...tough one for me to beat.

Nice work Travis. I hope you wore a black mask so he didn't see a glare off your shiny melon. JK
