Sunday was the last night I could hunt with a muzzy for a buck and I finally made a connection. I had never sat anywhere near this location but for the past 3 nights I was out, I sat along a standing soybean foodplot nobody else hunts that is 3/4 mile away from any roads and has cedar tree/timber bedding areas within 100 yards of the field. Well anyway, I have been watching both bucks and does come out into this field and figgued out what they were doing. Tonight, I sat along a fence row in a lawn-chair with no cover whatsoever but grass in front of me. First, 30 does were out 60 yards in front of me and then all of the sudden, I had 10 different bucks in the little field with this one being the biggest. 40 yard shot and dropped him! This deer is my second biggest to date and finishes off a great year of buck action for me (I didn't get one durring bow season but I had a dozzen close encounters with bigger bucks than this one). It really feels good to be watching deer for a while to figgue out what they do in a new area and then finally capitalize on that knowledge! Well, after the late doe season, I'll then be looking forward to spring turkey and then next October!
