One less Buck

Sitting at home last night I heard someone call in a injured deer on the scanner. I heard where it was and got a bad feeling. Its right where I hunt, So I thought I'd better go check it out. He was dead when I got there. Who ever hit it didn't stick around so I waited for the sheriff and got a salvage tag from him. I've seen this buck several times this year from a distance. Hes got an inside spread if 18 inches. What a bummer.

What a shame. At least you got a salvage tag. Maybe you should plack mount the rack and put a ford f150 tag on the plaque. That's a bummer.

I just got done boning him out. I save probably 75% of the meat. He got hit in the butt up high it peeled his tail up his back broke his back and must of hit an artery and bled out internally. I was really happy with all the meat I got out of him. It still a real bummer to think a car took him out.

Sorry to here about that buck. Good you were able to salvage most of it. In my area, a big 8 was found by a farmer I know combining corn. One side of the rack went through the combine, of which he had about 4 inches of base and the end of the beam. The other side was intact and I'm guessing he would have been a 140 class buck. He had been there for a while, probably hit by a truck as the field was next to a highway. Bummer, I know how you feel.

hate to hear stuff like this! atleast you were able to get the buck. i myself just took a roadkill buck 2 nights ago, not anywhere near where i hunt, just on my drive home from work. i'll try to post pics soon, he has a pretty unusual typical frame, including a whole through the main beam
