It seems like September 1st comes upon us fast, August 31st I am not even anxious but when today rolls around, oh boy do I get excited then.

I was out scouting today and caught a buck still in velvet, I couldn't get a good pic but he looks like just any day those white shiny horns will be breaking through, then rubs will start to show up and 10/1/01 will make it official.

Isn't it great to have X-mas come Oct. 1st, then again early muzzle-loader, then shot-gun season too, but right now my favorite is the early youth deer season with my 13yr old son come sept-22. This is the best thing that ever happened to the youth of iowa.I dont mind paying the high taxes that Iowa has, because I know that the quality of hunts we have together, and you can't put a price on that ...20 days and counting .....GOOD LUCK ALL.......jb
