One of those moments...

Well, I had a Doe at 20 yards not even paying attention and boom! Shot her...so I though, I watched the arrow hit her chest then boom it's in the air. Could I have hit the shoulder or what?! It bounced off the deer...how the h e double hocky stick does that happen? I looked at the arrow and it went in 4 inches in. I'm shooting 60lbs and Muzzy broadheads.

I actually shot at a doe at 50 yards and found the arrow right where she was standing but it was parallel to me.

The funny part was it went in the air about 20 yards then hit the dirt 10 yards away from where I shot her in a different direction.

That's more surprising with Muzzy's. I'm sure it can happen with ANYTHING but I would have guessed it was an expandable you were using. One of those crappy things you just hit it wrong, bone, etc. Deer will likely be fine.

I had the same thing happen other night, thought I had a good shot at 30 yards, she did a big mule kick and took off. I found no blood, hair, or arrow went back this morning at first light with the same result

I shot a big buck once square in the shoulder with a muzzy. The arrow went in about 3 - 4 inches and bounced out. He acted like nothing happened. I shot a doe in the shoulder last Sunday but was lucky enough to get about 15 inches of penetration with a 2 inch hammerhead and she only made it about 70 yards before piling up. Stuff happens.

years ago, i hit a deer high in the shoulder, he ran off about 80 yards and reached around and pulled the arrow out with his mouth and walked off.... I was pissed...

i hit a doe in the shoulder last year also...rage at 30 yards and got about 3-4" penetration. never found her.

on the other hand, the first pope & young buck i ever killed was shot right through the shoulder at 20 yards and the rage actually penetrated the opposite shoulder. there was a bulge in the hide on the opposite side, but not quite a pass through. the bow i shot back then wasn't nearly as fast as the one i shoot now either...

i don't understand it...i guess sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't.
