Monday morning was a good start to this years turkey season despite the monsoon. Ive never hunted in real hard rain but I thought I would try to use it to my advantage, since I had already put in for vacation. I new exactly where the birds were and exactly where the wanted to go from previous scouting so I decided to use the noise of the rain and extra darkness to get extremely close. I set up real early about 4:30 to be exact and was ready to put in a full day. 6:00 came and still not a single gobble but at 6:15 when the rain let up and it was getting light enough to see I started checking the tree tops, and found one gobbler roosted 42yds to the side of the blind. So I decided to make a few soft calls and at 6:37 he and three of his buddies flew right into the decoys. So when one came to only 8 steps of the blind I introduced him to a rocket miniblaster. All four gobblers were within 20yds at the time of the shot which made for an exciting even though short hunt. He weighed in at 25 1/2pounds and had a 10 1/2" beard with 1 1/4 and 1 1/8" spurs.
