OT DeWalt batteries

I bought an 18 volt DeWalt 1/2" drill. The battiers haven't helda charge and won't charge. I've had it for a few years, maybe three and only had about one good year outa the batteries. I didn't use it very often, and haven't used it becuse of the batteries.I use it to start foot pegs.

Anything I can do to "jump start" the batteries or are they junk?

Thanks.

if you have a battery patrol in the area they will rebuild them for a decent price and you will get a one year warranty out of it which is the same as a new battery. the cost should be about half the price of a new battery. i am in the construction industry and i know a lot of people that have and still do have the same problem. good luck!

Thanks again for the info. Milwaukee and Bosch don't have battery problems?

I bought 24volt Bosch stuff in 2000 and I just had the batteries rebuilt 5 months ago. I have had real good luck with my Bosch tools wether they were cordless or not.

Borrow someone elses that way the problems, when they arise, are theirs.

That is probably the best advice.

However if you are really bored, I'll offer this: My father is possibly the cheapest man on earth and gets enormous satisfaction from saving a buck, even somebody else's buck. I had a couple 16v batteries die on me so he took them apart and inside is a bunch of batteries that look like "C" cell batteries. He tested each one and found enough good ones between the two to make one useful battery. He soldered them all up into one battery and it does work just fine. I trust you have better ways to spend your time so I refer you to Muddy's advice. Or you could call my tightwad dad.
