OT My winter project

I know this isn't hunting but it can be a little slow around here this time of year. During the break between whitetails and turkey hunting I decided to build an entertainment center/armoire for our living room. My better half found a couple she wanted but they weren't built very well. My father in law volunteered his shop and helped with the project. I still have a light to hang in the top section and the handles for the doors just came in today. Its made out of solid cherry and this was the first big woodworking project I have done. I think it turned out pretty good and the Mrs. is happy so she shouldn't mind it when I decide to upgrade my bow.

What are you going to do with all the dead space behind a flat screen?

That thing is awesome! Nice job!! Woodworking takes up my slow time between seasons as well.

Isn't that truth though about wood pieces of furniture that you find in stores....90% of the time they are pieces of crap or else they are very high quality and cost an absolute fortune! If you don't mind me asking...what do you think that project cost you for materials?

By the time it was all said and done with all of the hardware and material somewhere around $1000. Its alot of money but for what we wanted I couldn't buy anything for that amount that was quality. Everything we looked at seemed to be veneered everything. Atleast everything on it is solid wood and it will last a lifetime.

Awesome Corey! I can hardly put together the "kits" they sell as furniture these days let alone build something from scratch - Nice Job

Heck yeah man...it will last you a lifetime and if taken care of it's something you can pass on. Nothing you can buy in the stores today that are the "veneered" crap will outlive you and be able to be passed down.

Nice job man.
